Michael Leckie and Thomas Schroeder will be teaching a design studio at UBC School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture @ubcsala this fall entitled: The Room / Structures of Perception and Time. The departure point for the work is an analysis of Andrei Tarkovsky’s existential cinematic masterpiece Stalker.
Leckie Studio will be presenting Untitled / 392 Sheets of Plywood at IDS Vancouver September 20-23. We are grateful to be partnering with Origins CNC and Chalten Engineering on this design-build project. The installation oscillates between appearing visually permeable and solid/opaque, addressing the voyeuristic aspect of trade shows. The installation is presented by LaSalle College. Leckie Studio is honored to have been awarded the commission for the new Arts Student Centre at the University of British Columbia. The Arts Student Centre will provide amenities to support the learning, social, collaboration and innovation needs of a diverse Faculty of Arts student population. The 10,700 square-foot building will be located on the site of the Oak Bosque and is part of a larger vision for the revitalization of this portion of the campus.
Our latest experiments in custom furniture are currently in the testing phase at the studio. This is the start of our collaboration with a/i studio, and we are looking forward to working to develop additional prototypes.
